The Syrian people have endured a brutal dictatorship for more then 33 years, and it took a 14 year civil war to dismantle that regime. HTS and Al-Sharaa took over the power in Syria, after al-Assad fled the country promising to realise the aims of the Syrian civil movement in 2011 during the Arab spring for free, democratic, civil and just state. 

Not 4 months after HTS and Al-Sharaa took power features of the old regime reappear in Syria. During a security operation against followers of al-Assad regime, who attacked security forces, many civilians were targeted and killed by the security forces for being Alawites like Al-Assad. since the the beginning of the security operations in costal provinces of Latakia، Tartus, Hama and Hums multiple massacres were committed against the civilians by both the security forces and loyalists of Al-Assad regime. Since the attacks by loyalists of Al-Assad regime against security forces on march the 8th more then a tausend civilians were murdered according to the Syrian human rights observatory.

The European union must take upon his role as human rights and democracy defending institution to put pressure upon the Syrian leadership to bring those who are responsible for  violated human rights to justice and take measures in order to protect the Syrian people and prevent such travesties by the security forces.
