In the latest update, there are good and not so good things. The good news is, the coyotes are still alive. Mangetail is referred using the pronoun “he”, and he has a mate! The use of the pronoun “he” suggests the city considers Mangetail to be someone, not something. The not so great stuff is, Critter Gitter is still involved, the city claims that relocation as a last resort to a sanctuary or to the wild is not feasible (the sanctuary Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation in Texas does have space, despite what the city says), and the city is considering spaying and neutering the coyotes. While spaying and neutering seems humane (it is certainly better than killing), it poses a huge problem in how the coyotes would likely be caught. Legholds and relaxing snares would likely be the method to trap. The coyotes do need mange treatment, so capture and treatment should only be done by a wildlife rehabilitation centre.
