With relief we are able to update this afternoon that the application for bail today, was denied. The defendant may reapply in a few months time but until then, he will remain where he belongs; in custody.
Thank you all so very much for sharing and signing this petition, we really cannot thank you enough. Every signature makes such a difference, as too does every single person who stands beside us in support of Raven and the justice she deserves. We are so grateful to you all.
The next course of action is to continue sharing this petition as far as possible, to continue gathering signatures to put forward when the next bail application is made.
Secondly the intention is to now join forces with any other parents who have lost a loved one in a similar way in Northern Ireland. It is important that we stand together to bring about changes in legislation that would aim to keep the guilty party in custody until their sentencing hearing, and to ensure the punishment legally fits the crime. We understand Ravens life has not been the only life lost to dangerous drivers who appear to receive bail immediately in most cases, and who receive very minimal sentencing. We would like to change this.
