I apologize that it's been so long since my last update, but we've been busy working on our first "Operation Craigslist Pets Campaign" test and I'm happy to announce that we achieved a great result! In summary, we ran a 10 day long test in one city: Hartford, Connecticut. During this period we targeted 55 ads for removal. The 55 Targeted ads were determined to either be in violation of Craigslist's terms (including breeders selling pets) or deemed to be in violation of what we might consider "common sense" animal welfare practices. These included animals that were being "offered" first come first served to the general public. We would categorize the majority of these ads as "For Sale" ads where an animal was being sold or transferred for a fee. The ad posters were contacted via email, first by us, and then by the campaign volunteers and were offered alternative options for rehoming their animal. We repeated this process daily until either the listing was removed voluntarily or the ad was flagged for removal by the CL community. The Results: We targeted 55 ads for removal during the period of June 7th through June 16th. Of those 55 we targeted, 26 or 47% were removed voluntarily. 17, or 30% were removed by flagging. In total, during our 10 day sample we saw a net reduction in targeted ads of just over 77%. Great result! If you haven't already, please sign up to stay informed by filling out the form on our website below. Thanks again for continuing to honor innocent pets like Puppy Doe by sharing and supporting our cause. Sincerely, Joyel
