We spoke with the Salt Lake court today and found out the court dates for June 27-29 have been pushed to August. A pretrial conference will take place August 26 at 8:30 AM. That court date will determine how the trial proceeds (what evidence can be used, which witnesses will testify, etc.). The defense is likely going to put forth several motions to suppress evidence and bar certain witnesses from testifying. The trial is set to occur August 29-31 at 9:00 AM each day, and lasting all day long with a brief recess for lunch. All court proceedings will take place at the Matheson Court House at 450 South State Street, Salt Lake City, Utah on the 4th floor in court room W-43. We highly encourage people to attend and to wear all black in memory of Moose. Red ribbons and pins will be passed out. Please do not speak in the court room and do not confront or respond to Mikah Johnson's supporters outside of the court room. You also cannot take into the court room any photos of Moose, banners, posters, etc. If you cannot attend court please email a PDF of a letter to the court asking that Mikah Johnson receive no plea deals and be sentenced the maximum for each charge, 15 years total. Mikah Johnson is currently still in Salt Lake Metro Jail for violating the conditions of his bail by having contact with children. He will probably remain there until the trial and sentencing is over. If he is found guilty he will likely be given credit for time served meaning there is a chance that even if he is found guilty, Mikah Johnson could still walk out of court a free man if he is given a light sentence and credit for time served.
