The "alleged" culprit has been offered a plea deal of 90 days in jail rather than proceed to trial. Mr. Latham and his attorney have not yet accepted (or refused) this offer. We would like everyone in Corgi Nation to write a HAND written letter to the chief prosecutor Dave McEachran, expressing this person to receive the max sentence. The address for the court, Whatcom county courthouse address, 310 Grand Ave. Bellingham, Wa 98225 and please be polite and respectful. Thank you for your support.". Let's make the most of the outrage that has been expressed in this case, even beyond US shores, and work to create reform through grassroots support. We can be part of change here. The issue here is that current law, at least in Washington state, does not provide severe penalties for the killing of an animal which is only considered "property." What Molly's dad is asking is for as many of us as possible to send "real" letters, not just emails, to the court requesting that these outdated laws be restructured to reflect the true value of a companion animal, now considered by so many of us to be a true family member, not an object like a bicycle or a piece of furniture. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Justice-for-Molly-the-Corgi/470482849759888?hc_location=timeline
