To celebrate Marilyn Monroe’s birthday month, a gallery in New York is presenting a photography exhibit full of rare images taken throughout the actress’s lifetime. The collection will open at Pop International Galleries on June 21, with a free opening event that evening. This exhibit goes behind the usual photographs you see of the iconic star, and instead, includes color and black-and-white photography from seven different photographs, including Bert Stern, George Barris and Laslow Willinger. A lot of the images are hand-signed by the photographers. One of the oldest images on display is from 1945, taken by William Carroll, back when Monroe was known as Norma Jean (she started going by Marilyn Monroe in 1946 and legally changed it 10 years later).
