🕯️ A Monsoon Trip Turned Tragic: The Kharghar Hit-and-Run That Shook Dharavi

What began as a joyful monsoon getaway for a group of young dancers from Dharavi ended in unimaginable tragedy on the morning of July 9, 2025. As the sun rose over Mumbai, three lives—Manav Yellappa Kunchikorve, Sameer, and Sagar—were extinguished in a brutal hit-and-run on Hiranandani Bridge, Kharghar.

Eleven friends, united by their passion for dance and dreams of a scenic escape, set out on six bikes toward Lonavala. Their spirits were high, their hearts full. But at around 4:45 AM, a speeding white Fiat Linea Emotion, driven recklessly by Vaibhav Chandrakant Dhere, 24, from Pimpri Chinchwad, tore through their convoy.

The impact was catastrophic.

- Manav, just 22, was flung off the bridge and later declared dead at Panvel Rural Hospital.  

- Sameer and Sagar succumbed to their injuries shortly after.  

- Ten others were left injured—some with severe head trauma and broken limbs.

🚨 A Driver Who Fled, A Community That Won’t Stay Silent

Instead of helping the victims, the accused fled the scene on foot, abandoning the wreckage and the lives he had shattered. His car was later seized, and he was booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Motor Vehicle Act. But for the families of Manav, Sameer, and Sagar, legal action is just the beginning.

They demand justice, not just punishment.
