JUSTICE FOR LEANDO FORTUIN AND WESLEY
PETITION TO OPPOSE BAIL FOR KEENAN PETERSEN
Bail hearing: 6 October 2026
Court: Blue Downs Court, Western Cape, South Africa
OUR VOICES MUST BE HEARD. JUSTICE FOR LEANDO AND WESLEY.
We, the undersigned family members, friends and concerned members of the community, stand united in calling for justice for Leando Fortuin and Wesley, whose tragic deaths have left their families and loved ones heartbroken.
Two lives have been lost. Families have been left with unbearable pain, unanswered questions and a void that can never be filled. The grief of losing loved ones in such circumstances is something no family should have to endure.
As the families prepare for the bail hearing of Keenan Petersen on 6 October 2026 at Blue Downs Court, we respectfully call upon the National Prosecuting Authority, the investigating officer and the prosecution to take our concerns seriously and to oppose bail.
We ask that all relevant evidence and information be placed before the court, including any substantiated concerns regarding the safety of the families, witnesses and community members.
WE CALL FOR THE FOLLOWING:
That the prosecution oppose the bail application of Keenan Petersen.
That the court carefully consider all relevant facts, the seriousness of the allegations and the interests of justice.
That the safety and protection of the families and witnesses be taken seriously, and that any credible concerns about intimidation or interference with witnesses be brought before the court.
That the families of Leando Fortuin and Wesley receive appropriate information and support throughout the legal process.
That the investigation and court proceedings continue fairly, thoroughly and without intimidation or interference.
We recognise that the court must make its decision independently and in accordance with South African law. Our petition is not intended to prejudge the outcome of the criminal case. We are asking for the prosecution to oppose bail and for every relevant concern to be properly considered.
TWO LIVES. TWO FAMILIES. A COMMUNITY THAT WILL NOT FORGET.
Leando and Wesley were more than names. They were loved ones, family members and people whose lives mattered deeply to those around them.
Their families are grieving. Their loved ones are hurting. We cannot turn back time, but we can stand together and ensure that the families' voices are heard through the proper legal process.
We ask every person who believes in justice to stand with the Fortuin families, sign this petition and share it so that their call for justice can be heard.
Let us stand together peacefully, respectfully and firmly.
JUSTICE FOR LEANDO FORTUIN.
JUSTICE FOR WESLEY.
PLEASE OPPOSE BAIL FOR KEENAN PETERSEN.
Signed by concerned family members, friends and members of the community.
