Now that the holidays are over we are going to start back on the HALL OF SHAME. I have a statement from an eyewitness in our next Hall of Shame member, DAISY MAE.
First, please keep Autumn and Aspen in your thoughts and prayers. Aspen is still not home! Autumn is taking up the cause for stronger animal protection ordinances in the Columbus, Indiana and the Bartholomew county area. We are very thrilled and proud of her for that!!
I am going to dive into the Daisy Mae story. There is a lot to it. Once again, I welcome anyone that would like to correct or add to Daisie Mae’s story!!!
As we precede into our next case we need to keep this timeline in mind.
Ezekiel’s tragedy; (our previous hall of Shame, who was hung in the tree and shot in the face ) was reported in the local Columbus newspaper, the Republic, on March 6. In this article, the Bartholomew county officials asked for the public’s help and were looking for leads in Ezekiel’s tragedy. (They actually found him on February 23, 2023. )
On April 9, 2023 Elizabethtown resident Bobbi Garcia found Daisy Mae deceased in her dog house with both Daisy Mae and her dog house thrown on the side of road at south county rd 450E.
Please note this was just a mere five weeks after the Republic reported that Ezekiel had been hung and shot in the face and that officials were looking for leads and help from the public.
Bobbi stated that it looked like that Daisy may have been shot and her body burnt.
Bobbi called animal control, who was Mark Case at that time.
Mark told Bobbi that he could not come for a time that he lived in Hope and had visitors from out of town. Now when you’re the county animal control officer, that means the whole county is your jurisdiction no matter where you live!!!
Bobbi and her daughter waited there with the body of Daisy Mae for several hours when animal control did not show up. They then called the sheriffs department.
The Sheriffs department came, and the only thing they accomplished was taking Daisy Mae out of the doghouse and pitching her poor body in the ditch like a piece of trash on the side of the road, and then pitching their gloves in the ditch.
The next morning on Monday April 10 Bobbi was so upset that she attended the commissioners meeting to express her disgust and horrible experience with the sheriff’s department and animal control.
President Tony London proclaimed that from this time forward, there would be protocol for taking care of an animal’s body.
After all these events animal advocate Sandy Bush went to the site where Daisy Mae was found,on Monday April 10th 2023, only to find that Daisy Mae’s body was still in the ditch.
Sandy AGAIN called animal control.
She waited until animal control officer, Mark case arrived with county commissioner, Larry Kleinhenz accompanying him.
The two decided to bury the body, not listening to Sandy, repeatedly, imploring them that the Humane Society was waiting on the body.
The two men treated Sandy with the same contempt that they do at the commissioner’s meetings that she attends. If anyone does not believe me on this, I challenged you to attend the commissioners meetings at 10 AM at 440 3rd st. ( I will, in the future, have a link to a Republic article on events that happened at a commissioners meeting.)
Let’s consider this, 5 short weeks earlier a crime against a dog was reported with officials looking for leads and asking for help from the public when Another dog, Daisy Mae, was found who looked like may have been shot and or burnt, and they want to bury it without having the body examined??
The officials should have been on high alert with Ezekiels crime still current and unsolved. Anything that faintly resembled a crime against an animal in Bartholomew should have been very carefully examined yet the animal control officer, and Commissioner Larry Kleinhenz literally buried any evidence and a possible crime!!!
Is that ok?! What is with that ? Did animal control and the county commissioner literally cover this up and WHY ?
Did the actions of leader, Larry Kleinhenz and animal control officer Mark Case show ANY concern for animal protection?
Bartholomew county resident Bobbi made several calls to two different government organizations, waited with Daisey Mae’s destroyed body for hours, took her time to go to the commissioners meeting and yet when Sandra Bush went to check out the situation after all this, the body was still there!!
It took several calls to two different Bartholomew County organizations by two different residents on two separate occasions and 2 different groups of residents waiting with the body for hours to get something done about this poor baby and then they literally covered her up!!!
What does it take to get these leaders to care about Animal protection because it is absolutely obvious that they just don’t care ?!!!
The following is part of Witness Bobbi Garci’s statement;
On April 9.2023 I took CR 450E in Elizabethtown home and noticed a doghouse laying on side of the road, me and my husband got out to look and thats when we seen a dog deceased inside. From the looks of it it looked as if Someone had shot and tried to burn the dog. I Called Sheriff Department.
They decided that they would leave the dog laying there in which the Sheriffs Officers decided to pull the dog out the doghouse and throw it in the ditch, and left their gloves there as well.
ON April 10th the dog was Still laying there.
