ARTICLE AS FOLLOWS….
"It could be as simple as this announcement to bring your animals in to some type of indoor shelter if the temperature is at or below 20 degrees.
Our Commissioners act like it's stepping on county resident's toes to make them take care of their outdoor animals humanely.
They have made small steps in improving county animal control procedures and for this we are grateful. They are purchasing a new van, new radios for the ACO's and equipping the vans with heated water bowls, insulated blankets and metal roofing for shelter.
If you attend the Commissioner's meetings or are in contact with them, please thank them for these positive actions.
But...
We still need updated animal care regulations that address the definition of adequate shelter, humane tethering regulations and regulations for residents who have outdoor pets when excessive weather conditions occur.
Until we have specific wording in our regulations, the regulations we currently have are too vague to be enforceable and of no use to our county officers trying to do their job.
