Petition updateJustice for Jordan BelliveauMore understanding of Jordan’s Law

The purpose of this petition is not to ask for a specific sentence. But instead it is to ask the Department of Children and Families, as well as agencies like it, to re-evaluate their procedures and guidelines regarding children being placed in the hands of the biological families they were originally taken from. In this situation, dear Jordan was luckily taken out of a home that was deemed harmful and was placed with an amazing foster family. Unfortunately, he was placed back in the home due to a judge deeming he was ready to go back home, to a home in which the parents had domestic violence charges which occurred shortly before he was placed back with his biological parents. On the Friday before Jordan went missing, a case worker had come to check out his well-being and nothing was done even though there had been those recent charges.

This isn’t the first case like this unfortunately. As of 2014, almost 500 children had lost their lives at the hands of DCF (and like agencies) due to either being ignored in dangerous homes or being placed back in the hands of biological parents who had shown little to no improvement. They go based on the parents making empty promises to improve the child’s life and wellbeing, but these promises are never fulfilled and soon enough, these children turn up dead, typically at the hands of the parents. This number was from 4 years ago, a lot can happen in 4 years and too many lives have been lost due to the negligence of these agencies.

My sister, Miranda Lynn, and I, Kayla Marie, are making it our goal to see it through that these changes are made. But we need your help. We need all the signatures we can get and in order to do that, we need you to share this petition. While we can share it over and over again to our friends, we need you to share it to yours in the hopes that at least one of them will see it and continue to share it to their friends. We have gained so many signatures and attention from this and we thank each and every one of you, but Jordan’s Law needs more. The children that have been lost in the past deserve more, as do the children who’s lives could be saved in the future. They deserve the chance at a life with a family who loves them, just like Jordan almost had with his foster family.

Thank you for all your support.
