Thank you to everyone who has continued to support us throughout this incredibly difficult process. Your support has truly been instrumental in Jolly’s healing process. We wanted to share an update now that the next steps have officially been taken…

We’ve filed formal complaints with both the Virginia Medical Board and the VA Office of Inspector General regarding the serious mishandling of Jolly’s care through the Salem VA mental health department. We also reached back out to our Congressman’s office to ensure they’re fully informed about everything that has happened and the continued harm this system has caused.

This past week, one of the providers named in the complaint contacted Jolly directly, despite clear instructions that no further contact was appropriate. When questioned, he stated that he reached out because he had received a letter from the Medical Board. This wasn’t a clinical follow-up—it was a response to being reported. That call never should have happened, and it only underscored the urgency of holding the system accountable.

We’re in the process of securing legal representation and preparing to move forward with filing a federal tort claim. That step is coming next.

Jolly continues to focus on healing, and we will keep advocating—not just for him, but for every veteran who deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and competence.
