64 Voices for Justice — This Fight Is Bigger Than Jennifer Mee

Today, our petition has reached 64 signatures.

To everyone who has signed and supported this petition so far, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Every signature represents someone who believes that justice should be fair, reasonable, and based on individual responsibility.

However, this petition is about much more than Jennifer Mee.

Yes, Jennifer Mee is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole. She did not pull the trigger. She was not present at the scene of the murder. She did not plan a murder. She did not know a weapon would be involved. She was only 19 when that crime happened by other people.

Whether people agree or disagree with her actions leading up to that tragic event, one question remains:

Is a sentence of life without parole truly justice under these circumstances?

Many people believe the answer is no.

But this petition is not just about one woman. It is about a principle that affects all of us.

If a law can impose the harshest possible punishment on someone who neither committed the killing nor intended for a killing to occur, then that same law could one day affect other people, including our friends, our family members, or even ourselves.

Justice should protect society, but it should also recognize degrees of responsibility. When punishment becomes disconnected from individual actions and intent, everyone should be concerned.

Supporting justice for Jennifer Mee is not about excusing crime.
