Yesterday, Victoria Police officers were pelted with rocks and glass bottles in violent CBD protests. One officer suffered a broken hand. Commander Wayne Cheesman called it “a bad day for Victoria Police and a bad day for Melbourne.”

These scenes show exactly why this campaign matters. When officers are injured serving the community, they deserve protection and fairness not a legal loophole that leaves them behind.

This petition has already reached 1,650 signatures in just a few days a clear message that Victorians support protecting those who protect us.
