We promised that we would update everyone as soon as we had news of the outcome of today's sentencing. We have some good news to share. Kyle Springer is IN JAIL tonight. He was remanded to custody shortly after his court appearance today, and will remain in custody.
The courtroom in Woodstock, New Brunswick was packed today with animal rights advocates and interested parties to hear the sentence that Kyle Springer was to receive for abandoning Diesel to die of starvation. Evidence for the prosecution was presented, including the horrific, heart-breaking photos taken of Diesel by police officials when he was found deceased. Judge Julian Dickson was very moved and obviously dismayed by what he saw. As a new judge hearing this case, he has taken the decision to defer sentencing until April 18th, to give more time to study all of the evidence. We are confident that Judge Dickson understands the gravity and seriousness of this heinous crime, and intends to do right by Diesel.
In his closing comments, Judge Dickson made it very clear that there would be NO INTERMITTANT or CONDITIONAL sentences imposed, but that Kyle Springer would serve JAIL TIME. How much time this will be, we don't know at this point. The Crown was asking for six months, but the judge may decide to impose more. We are very thankful to Judge Dickson for his wise counsel in realizing just how very important this case is.

Thanks also to the 100+ individuals who came out to rally for Diesel and Dogs everywhere who are facing or who have suffered abuse and died at the hands of abusive, neglectful individuals.
