On January 8th, 2019, Kyle Springer pled guilty to criminal code charges of animal cruelty as the result of leaving his dog, Diesel, to starve to death in a locked home over the course of two months. Springer is scheduled to be sentenced on April 9th, 2019 at 1:30pm EST at the Woodstock Courthouse in Woodstock, New Brunswick. Kyle Springer faces a fine not exceeding $10,000 and/or up to 18 months in prison.
April 9th, 2019 is the day that we have all been working towards. In signing this petition, in sharing Diesel's story, in being a voice for Diesel who had no voice and no control over what happened to him in that trailer in Summerville, NB in 2015. It is our sincere hope that the law will recognize that these crimes against innocent animals MUST be answered with a strict punishment that sends the message that abuse, neglect and animal abandonment will not be tolerated. We also hope as part of this sentence that the presiding judge will impose a ban on owning, having the custody or control of or residing in the same premises as any animal.
A PEACEFUL RALLY will be taking place in advance of the sentencing on April 9th, at 12:00 NOON EST, in front of the Woodstock Courthouse at 689 Main Street in Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada. This rally is being held in #MemoryofDiesel but also in support of tougher Animal Cruelty sentences to prevent other animals from suffering as Diesel did.
