📣 Petition Update: Why We Still Demand a Truth Commission in a Post-Truth Society
“In a time of deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” — attributed to George Orwell
Why do we appeal for the restoration of rights to the very powers that stripped them away? In seeking redress from the violator, do I not paradoxically affirm their authority—both by my negation and my plea?
In 2025, the truth in India is not merely hidden—it is overwritten. We live in a post-truth society where institutionalized deceit is normalized, where propaganda eclipses transparency, and where history is rewritten in real-time through troll armies, "Godi Media", judicial opacity, and bureaucratic redactions.
Since 2014, we have witnessed a systematic erosion of democratic accountability:
- The Right to Information is stonewalled.
- Courts dodge unconstitutional challenges.
- Watchdogs are co-opted.
- Whistleblowers face defamation and prison.
- Regulatory and constitutional appointments raise serious ethical concerns.
Yet, we still demand a Truth and Accountability Commission—not because we believe the regime will confess, but because we refuse to forget. This demand is not naïve. It is resistance through memory.
Drawing on thinkers like Foucault, Derrida, Freud, Arendt, and Guattari, we know that truth is never neutral, and archives are not passive. As Freud’s Mystic Writing Pad reminds us, even erased inscriptions leave traces. We name our archive The Mystique Pad—a civil ledger of betrayal, redactions, evasions, and systemic deceit as a whole.
This petition is no longer just a plea.
It is:
🗂️ A people’s archive
🧠 A ledger of memory
💣 A public truth bomb
We document:
❌ RTI denials and redactions
❌ Judicial betrayals and evasions
❌ Media manipulation and troll propaganda
❌ Corporate and political complicity
❌ The silencing of dissent
Because when silence becomes complicity, memory must become defiance.
📌 This is our Mystique Pad—our refusal to let erasure become the final word.
📚 As Derrida suggested, the archive is a site of conflicted tendencies.
🧨 As Foucault insisted, power-relations manifest through its varied institutions. Thus, by subverting institutions that lack transparency and accountability, we confront the polymorphic power-structure.
🕯️ In a time when watchdogs become lapdogs, we become the witnesses.
Join us. Sign and share.
Not to beg for justice—but to engrave injustice.
To build the record that will outlive the regime’s contradictions.
To prove that truth was not absent—it was suppressed.
And that we, the people, refused to forget.
🟥 DEMAND A TRUTH COMMISSION
🕯️ In a Post-Truth Society, Truth is Resistance
