Petition updateJustice for Chad Vincent Fry: Why This Case Demands ReviewNew Development: Attempt to Remove Wheelchair Without Specialist Evaluation

Leeann BarnettGeorgetown, TX, United States

Over the past nine months, Chad has been wheelchair-dependent due to severe knee pain and mobility loss.
After months of delay, an MRI was finally performed only after family intervention and it confirmed bilateral meniscus tears and knee fibrosis (scar tissue). Despite this confirmed structural damage, Chad still has not been evaluated by an orthopedic specialist.
Now, a new and concerning issue has emerged.
Medical staff recently attempted to remove his wheelchair, citing an instruction for “weight bearing at all times.” However:
• He has not yet been evaluated by orthopedics.
• Physical therapy previously instructed gradual weight-bearing only as tolerated.
• No walker or alternative assistive device was issued.
• No documented transition plan was provided.
Chad cannot safely ambulate independently at this time. Removing a medically issued mobility device without specialist evaluation or a structured plan creates a serious fall risk.
This situation raises urgent concerns about:
• Continued delays in specialist care
• Lack of coordinated treatment planning
• Inconsistent medical instructions
• Potential safety risks due to removal of assistive devices
We are asking for:
• Immediate orthopedic evaluation
• A clear, documented treatment plan
• Safe mobility accommodations
• Continuity of physical therapy
After nine months of mobility impairment, this matter requires timely and appropriate medical attention.
