Columbus Humane submitted all evidence to the city prosecutor and that prosecutor chose not to pursue this case. The city prosecutor should be held accountable.
The official statement you can find on the Columbus Humane social platforms states: "Columbus Humane would like to provide an update on an animal cruelty case regarding the dog Bruno, adopted from our partners at the Franklin County Dog Shelter. After a thorough investigation of the facts and evidence, we submitted a summary of our findings to the City Prosecutor’s Office for a complete review. Our agencies both agree that we lack probable cause to charge the suspect with a violation of O.R.C. 959.13 or O.R.C. 959.131. As a result, the case is now closed.
We understand that our community is grieving the loss of a beloved pet and we support you. Enforcing the laws to protect animals and people is a role that we at Columbus Humane take very seriously. Our promise to you, our neighbors, is to respond objectively and thoroughly, with skill and great compassion. Thank you for caring deeply and advocating for the animals"
His adopter, Isiah Rush, ADMITTED to leaving Bruno outside in a CAGE in the sun, in 100 degree heat, returning home and finding him unconscious from a heat stroke. Bruno soon died thereafter. He EVEN CALLED the shelter, admitted what happened and ASKED WHAT TO DO WITH HIS BODY. There are screenshots of his conversation with Connie Mckee in which he admits it all, without counting the witnesses of his previous property manager and actual neightbors who called the shelter and Columbus Humane to help!

That's why I'm asking you to KEEP FIGHTING, KEEP PROTESTING not only for Bruno, but also for all those abused and neglected voiceless animals that need to be protected by the law that coudn't care less about them! Keep protesting under the sun, under the rain like Bruno's did in front of Columbus Humane and Franklin Dog County Shelter! Also, I 1000% agree with Connie Mckee's statement on facebook in which she says that the adoption contract at the Franklin County Dog Shelter in COLUMBUS, OHIO needs to be revised to include a clause that states an adopted dog can be retrieved from an adopter if there is legit information that the dog could be in a potential harmful environment."
It sounds so obvious, so self-evident and self-explanatory that it should be a given with shelter dogs, in fact if you think that FCDS was notified the very next day after BRUNO’S adoption, about a legitimate concern for the welfare of Bruno, you realise Bruno could still be alive BUT, according to Kaye Persinger, the FCDS adoption contract apparently "restricted FCDS from doing anything".
If this is the case, THEN IT MUST be changed and that's exactly why I'm updating this petition.
In honor of BRUNO’S memory let’s get this changed so other dogs do not suffer the same fate and end up in cruel hands like Isaiah Rush and his girlfriend Tyshae Rose's who still can run on over and adopt another dog at Franklin County Dog Shelter or in any other shelter. Maybe he already got one on Sunday at the big $18 sale during which more than 50 dogs adopted in one day! How many Brunos are there?
