We would like to share an important development regarding Axel’s case, based on information released by advocacy partners.

Following the public outcry and sustained efforts from animal welfare advocates, legal counsel working on behalf of Axel traveled directly to Sadanga, Mountain Province to pursue the case on the ground. They coordinated with local authorities, met with the Sadanga Philippine National Police, and presented the available evidence and legal basis under the Animal Welfare Act.

According to the update, the criminal complaint related to Axel’s case has now been officially filed by the Sadanga PNP and accepted by the prosecutor. This means the matter has moved beyond public discussion and into formal legal proceedings.

This development is significant. It shows that animal-cruelty cases can move forward when evidence is pursued diligently and when communities continue to demand accountability, regardless of distance, location, or position.

While Axel is no longer with us, his case is now part of the legal record. This is an important step toward reinforcing that the Animal Welfare Act applies to everyone and that cruelty should never be dismissed.
