Friends,
A101 just crossed 80 cosponsors. The votes exist. The bill is stuck anyway.
It closes the voluntary intoxication loophole in New York's sexual assault law. As it stands, someone who targets a person who has been drinking can walk free. A101 ends that.
But the bill can't move until one person puts it on the committee agenda: Assemblymember Jeffrey Dinowitz, who sponsors it and chairs the Codes Committee. If he doesn't schedule it, all 80 cosponsors mean nothing.
So we ask him to schedule the vote. Takes under a minute.
👉 Please call Assemblymember Dinowitz and use the script below: (518) 455-5965
"Hi, my name is [your name], and I'm asking Assemblymember Dinowitz to bring bill A101 to a vote in the Codes Committee. Thank you."
A staffer or voicemail, both count. You don't need to live in his district. You don't need to know the bill. Just say the number and the ask.
The votes are there. The sponsor is there. The only thing missing is a date on the calendar.
We are closer than we have ever been. Let's finish it.
In it together,
P.S. After you call, send this to three people who will call too. That's how the office hears a wave instead of a trickle.
