We are calling on the Victorian Government to strengthen bail conditions for people accused of domestic and family violence.

Nearly everyone knows someone who has been affected by family or domestic violence, whether as a victim, a friend or a concerned community member.

People experiencing family and domestic violence should be able to feel safe in their own homes. When a person accused of family violence is released on bail and breaches their conditions or returns to the victim, this can place the victim at serious risk.

We are calling for:

Stricter bail conditions for people accused of domestic and family violence.
Higher restrictions or no bail where a person has a history of violence or has previously breached an AVO/DVO.
Greater consideration of the safety of victims when bail decisions are made.
Stronger monitoring of bail conditions to help prevent further harm.
Safe accommodation options for perpetrators while they are on bail, to help keep them separated from victims.
