ACTO DEL PASADO DÍA 13 DE ABRIL EN LA EXPLANADA

Jen GEstepona, Spain
21 Apr 2016
Saludos Rafael Duarte Martínez ABOGADO ACT HELD ON THE 13TH OF APRIL AT THE ESPLANADE Last Wednesday, between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm, a political act was held at the esplanade which was organised by the political party “Podemos” (in Estepona, “Costa del Sol Sí Puede”), that had been announced a few days beforehand. Several members of “Podemos” that hold political office as well as several supporters thereof were present at the esplanade, both from Estepona as well as from other municipalities from within the province. Moreover, taking advantage of the fact that a tourism congress was being held at Torremolinos, an architect from Seville, specialised in sustainability, and another architect from the University of Catania (Italy), specialised in sustainable urban development projects, also attended the act. And furthermore, the well-known Malaga geographer, Alfredo Rubio, was also present at the act, who is a professor at the University of Seville. All of the foregoing people, together with the councillor of “Podemos” at the Local Council of Estepona, gave a press conference (two journalists were present: from SUR and Europa Press) and expressed their opinion in contrary to the detailed study and criticised the intention of the Local Council to transfer the esplanade to a property developer. It was stated that the idea constituted an aberrant urban development irregularity and that the intention to sell the esplanade was an authentic act of plunder. The press (basically the newspaper “Sur” and “Cadena Ser”) mentioned the act and stated that “Podemos” wanted to organise an international tender for ideas for the consideration of alternatives, based upon the argument that the preferable solution was to develop the zone for recreational uses and for purposes related to the sea, as well as to protect the public property of the esplanade. The technical professionals present declared their interest in proposing action programs from an environmental and urban planning perspective, as a practical project for the tourism congress that was held in Torremolinos.
