I have been able to communicate with Julius recently and he is elated and uplifted by the support he has gotten here in Oklahoma and all around the world. Our voices and our activism are making a difference, and we believe that the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board and Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt will have no choice but to hear us and do the right thing by commuting Julius’ sentence. Please consider taking a moment to send them an email asking for Julius’ sentence to be commuted through our coalition website by clicking here.

As we wait for a commutation hearing, we are continuing to shed light on Julius’ case and do everything we can to draw attention to his innocence. Last week, we were joined on Facebook by Tulsa-based Private Investigator Eric Cullen, who talked about why he has gotten involved in this case.

Cullen worked for over 14 years to exonerate three Tulsa men who were wrongfully convicted of murder. He sees similarities between those cases and Julius, including “young, black men with limited resources” convicted after “shoddy, incomplete investigations” and “the testimony of questionable witnesses incentivized to lie for their own self-preservation.” In a letter to Governor Stitt and the Parole Board, Eric wrote: “Based on my extensive experience with these cases and a review of Julius’ case, I’m confident Julius is as innocent as these men, and he deserves his freedom.”
