Bridge of Death: Stop Development in the Kinabatangan
The Issue
The kinabatangan river in northeastern Borneo is a fantastic place for wildlife. It is home to pygmy elephants, orangutans, proboscis monkeys, clouded leopards, and many other rare species.
Unfortunately, many parts of Borneo are being cleared for palm oil plantations at an alarming rate. Worse still, the proposal to build a bridge across the kinabatangan will threaten wildlife by encouraging development and preventing rare species from moving across the sanctuary. The range of pygmy elephants is already become fragmented and the species could suffer from inbreeding if the problem gets worse. For more information, please read the guardian article below.
Please tell the government of Sabah to reject this disastrous plan and keep the kinabatangan wildlife sanctuary protected from development.
