On Sunday, November 1, A Life for A Life Urban Initiative (ALALUI) hosted an Open Mic Night to help create awareness about wrongfully convicted prisoners and spotlight the ongoing cases of Alphonso Clark, Jr. and juvenile lifer Robert Hinds. Together both men have served over 34 years in prison for crimes that they didn't commit.

The event featured Christine A. Pagac, Assistant Defender from SADO in Detroit, two Law Students from the U of M Innocence Clinic, Amadi Ndidi, J.D., an American Government Professor in Ontario, CA, Carl Williams, Political Action Chair for NAACP Saginaw Branch and other criminal justice advocates and creatives sharing the need for prison reform, justice for the wrongfully convicted, and VOTING for change all while spotlighting the arts. There were several great performances by spoken word group, Collective Verite from Detroit and author, Byron Poindexter from Saginaw, MI.
