Save the San Saba River! Sign our petition to vote against the proposed Upper San Saba River Management Plan (USSRMP). The San Saba River has been pumped dry by Menard County Irrigation interests for 10 of the last 15 years leaving 60 miles of downstream River bone dry! Domestic and Livestock (D&L) water rights are the Superior Water right on any River in Texas per Texas Water Code and is the policy that keeps some water in a River for Domestic and Livestock use as well as fish, wildlife and riparian habitat benefit. Irrigation water rights are Junior to D&L rights but the proposed USSRMP plan written by irrigators for irrigators is an attempt to minimize and weaken D&L rights and will virtually guarantee a dry San Saba River every summer going forward.
