As you know from following this petition, we are all beside ourselves with utter shock and dismay [which doesn't even truly express how we feel] at the blatant disregard and disrespect for all of us, in the name of COVID.

First we had to accept charges being dropped for murdering the baby when Governor Cuomo enacted RHA, which literally made fetal homicide legal; then came the Bail Reform Law and The Discovery Reform Law, the latter of which has been the most disruptive and the direct cause for the extensive delays to this case--NOT COVID.

We stood by as we watched other cases go through the court system, others that happened after my daughter's case, such as,  https://queenseagle.com/all/2020/2/18/man-who-stabbed-wife-in-jackson-heights-nail-salon-sentenced-to-25-years?rq=domestic%20violence.

We were told that because of COVID, everything is at a standstill.  Meanwhile, we now see that other cities are holding trials in these COVID times, cases that happened during COVID.  Why can't Queens County Court process its' criminal cases?  We don't understand.

Another thing we don't understand is why we have not been allowed to join the virtual court sessions that took place.  If those were held in a court, we would have been allowed to attend.  But apparently, new rules surfaced that didn't allow us to see, hear or witness any dialogues occuring.  When we ask why, we are given excuse after excuse; none of which makes any sense.  We kept being told to be patient because that's just the way the system works.

By the way, when COVID hit, The Discovery Reform Law was further modified to allow for extensions with no clear penalty for non-conformance.  And when we ask about that, well, we were told the only thing that can be done is to write our congressman to hear our voices.  Oh, but what about the voices of those that can no longer speak because they are DEAD

We've had to stand by as the very legal system that we expected to protect us, gave more and more leeway to the criminals and further silenced the victims, sending them into oblivion somewhere. We've stood by and watched as the judge gave adjournment after adjournment, until the courts were really truly shut down due to COVID.

We feel that we have been mistreated by the courts.  And it is a disrespect to Jenny and Evan directly, both of whom are in a grave just blocks away from the courthouse.  It's a crying shame and a travesty of justice.

We hope that you can continue to sign and share this petition, so Queens County Criminal Court can hear our voices, because we are the voices of all victims.  We know and understand that our case is not the only one being set aside.  There are more victims of crimes that are not getting justice.  We are speaking for them too!

I have attached links to public information on this case, including the laypress articles from the beginning of when this case started.  It is now March 31, 2021, and we are still in the same place as we were then, in terms of case progress.

Thank you!

Jenny's mom
