Hi cash fans,

Please complete (and share) our easy survey on attitudes to cash:

Increasingly experts are saying criminals prefer online crypto currencies while it's ordinary people who are being left behind, stranded at the checkout holding notes and coins.

Crypto currencies [are] a “highly speculative asset which has conducted some funny business and some interesting and totally reprehensible money-laundering activity,” said President of the European Central Bank, Christine LaGarde.

Warren Buffet’s partner, Berkshire Hathaway Vice President Charlie Munger is in no doubt at all. These digital currencies are a tool of “kidnappers and extortionists” that’s “contrary to civilization.”

Economist and New York Times economist Paul Krugman writes: “very few people are using Bitcoin to pay their bills, but some people are using it to buy drugs [or] subvert elections.”

Meanwhile, ordinary citizens are concerned that they can’t choose to pay with cash when buying food and essentials at supermarkets and shops. Cash is surcharge-free and the best budgeting tool of all.

So far more than 4,000 people have take the survey and cash is the favourite way to pay in Australia, according to the respondents.

21 per cent of people do not know that shops can legally refuse to accept cash but unfortunately this is true and this is what we want to change. All (physical) retailers must accept cash to ensure the system is reliable and everyone is included.

So far, 99.4 per cent of respondents support a legal right to pay with cash.
