Today, 06/25/2020 Mayor Jorge Elorza gave the executive order to have the Colombus statue taken down and put in storage to await a decision from the Committee for the Review of Commemorative works as to it's fate. 

I want to thank every one of you who has signed, shared the petition and emailed your representatives. Mayor Jorge Elorza stated on 06/24/2020 that his office had received over 3,000 emails from activists asking him to rethink policies on community policing, and I'm sure there were many emails about to Columbus statue as well among them. 

I will not close the petition, as I want to see this through to the proper relocation of the statue. But well done. This is a great victory.
