Jon Stewart's last day on the Daily Show will be a day of great rejoicing and relief at Fox News headquarters. Ironically, despite all of his self identified biases, Jon offers some of the most "Fair and Balanced" transparent reporting available today. I am starting this petition because I am afraid of the mounting wave of minutia and untruths that has already started to distort the campaign process. At this point, we seem destined to be overwhelmed by a crescendo of political theater that will make it impossible for the process to yield a candidate that successfully represents the fine character and true will of the American people. Jon's informed political commentary (not to mention his excellent candidate interviews) provides a critical transparency and accountability in the current American political landscape. His coverage and participation in the escalating campaign dialogue would contribute tremendously to safeguarding and improving the process. Jon has a unique opportunity to crystallize all of the cultural and political clout that he has earned to date, in order to help our nation make an informed decision in the establishment of the cultural and moral landmarks that will shape the proximate evolution of our imperfect union. We ask Jon to make this last sacrifice to his mission of protecting the truth, before he closes this brilliant chapter in his career and, and is allowed to enjoy a well-deserved respite.
