This week, a delegation of Hibakusha will travel to New York to attend the second round of historic negotiations for a treaty banning nuclear weapons. They will submit nearly 3 million signatures to the Hibakusha Appeal to the United Nations - including yours! At a press conference in Tokyo on June 9, representatives of the group announced that 2,963,889 signatures calling for nuclear elimination will be submitted to the president of the UN conference, Ambassador Elayne Whyte of Costa Rica. These are voices from people all around the world, supporting the Hibakusha in their determination for nuclear weapons to be eliminated during their lifetime.
