Update - Meeting with the Principal

This morning I spent an hour with a small group of other students talking to our principal about what happened yesterday. He was very open-minded during the meeting, listening to our concerns. He accepted his mistakes, and said he was now looking for alternate activities to commemorate Parkland. I am not saying this to say that all of us should be forgiving what they did, this is a call that he sees he made a mistake, and is all the more reason we should unite together stronger than him. We, the students, pulled this off all over America, and I won't let students at my school feel as though they weren't a part of this amazing thing that happened in America. We didn't sugar coat anything; we informed him of the concerns that I am sure many of you share - what happened yesterday was a self-indulgent display that the administration put together, and it nearly felt like a mockery of Parkland. As of right now, I am asking for you help to aid us in our search for ideas on how to get an alternate movement in. We are all in agreement that change is necessary in the current time, and we should let the current energy drive us, we should show the administration that what they did was wrong and that we, the students, can put together something together that the administration failed in. The walk out is still by and for the students to support Parkland, and we are the ones that should drive the change from the mess of yesterday. Please raise more awareness to this, we still need all the support we can get to put together something else. Thank you, Ashley Terrill
