During most of the hours of the day in Fontainebleau High, lots of the hallway bathrooms are locked. Even during times when students are encouraged to use the bathroom (like lunch), most of them are closed off. When students ask to use the restroom during class, they are most often denied by their teachers. Some teachers even put limits on how many times a student can use the bathroom during the quarter/semester. This can cause stress, inability to focus during class, embarrassment, and discomfort for lots of students who could be having an emergency (especially students with feminine issues).

On the rare occasion that students are allowed time to take care of their basic needs and use the restroom, they must take more of their learning time by searching for a bathroom that is not locked. The young adults at Fontainebleau should be allowed time to take care of their needs and use any bathroom at their convenience.

Although some students have misused their time in the bathrooms in the past, that should not get in the way of other students who legitimately have to use the restroom for its intended purpose. Improving the rules set on the bathrooms could help the best public high school in Louisiana be even better.
