We had a good run. A daft little petition that came about from a April Fool's Joke. But we got a response in the form of a comment from a Spokesperson from the John Muir Trust to The Courier. Spokesman Kevin Lelland, a keen Star Wars fan himself, said:

“I’m afraid we’d need to knock this idea down with a lightsaber. We’ve got sympathy with the concept that people and nature are hitched to the universe, and that’s why we try to keep Scotland’s most iconic mountain in as natural a state as possible.”

I can respect that. While the idea of this statue sounds amusing, Ben Nevis, the mountain comes first. I have contacted the John Muir Trust, thanking them for their response. They didn't have too, but they did. 

It's been fun, great to see so many fans of Ewan McGregor that were in support of this. But we got an answer, maybe not the one we were hoping. But unlike many Petitions, we did get a response.
