Our campaign has got off to an incredible start. We’ve had over 18,000 signatures in little over two weeks and there’s more good news to report this week.
Tessa Jowell, MP for Dulwich and West Norwood, has started Stop The Transfer Tax Rip-off: a petition calling for an end to unfair fees in transfers to all countries, but particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa.
It’s fantastic to see the fight for transparency in finance taking off - the more people who know about the issue, the more chance we have of seeing change.
Tessa is urging the established industry players to “be much more transparent in showing what the fees and charges cover”. We couldn’t agree more.
This Wednesday, Tessa will be leading a debate in the House of Commons to talk about unfair and excessive international money transfer fees. This is a real opportunity to get the Government to increase transparency and stop hidden fees in FX.
