On January 1, 2016 Larry and Rita McFadden Carpenter lost their son Jelani McFadden Carpenter, to a self-inflicted gunshot wound from hallucinations, caused by Promethazine as described by his mother. His family was later informed from the Toxicology report confirming that Promethazine (Lean, Sizzup, Purple Drank and Syrup) caused the drastic change in his behavior. His mother believes he was unknowingly given Promethazine in his Soda Pop. Jelani was quite a treasure, with the many gifts that God gave him. He was a wise young man that shared his gifts with others. God truly used him to enlighten so many people. He supported the mission and purpose of helping people to further their educational goals with financial assistance from College Readiness Plan, a 501c3 of which he was an Executive Board Member. Jelani was loved by many and was like a Precinct Delegate of his community, who was a Senior Business Major and student athlete on Scholarship at Langston University a HBCU in Oklahoma. Since that tragic and unforeseen January morning, the Carpenter family has vowed to inform, educate, change laws in the United States of America that will stop the availability of Promethazine (Lean, Sizzup, Purple Drank and Syrup). THIS IS AN EPIDEMIC, that is killing thousands of children from the ages of 8 and older in the African American Community. This includes the living dead (Those who have drank Promethazine and lost their minds). **This prescription drug is glamorized and promoted for getting high by some rappers in their songs.
