Tell Joe Carollo To Resign From the City of Miami Commission For His Unrepentant Racism

0 have signed. Let’s get to 200!

City of Miami Commissioner Joe Carollo used his official role to deliver racial slurs from the dais at City Hall and to lead the assembled crowd in open mockery of Commissioner Ken Russell's heritage as he chaired a public meeting.

Mr. Carollo should step down from his position as District 3 City Commissioner immediately, because he is very apparently unable to work with legislators who do not share his ethic or cultural background and harbors racist opinions that are inimical to being a lawmaker in this City, nor a representative of its diverse residents.

Mr. Carollo's open racism and utter lack of decorum in the City Hall chambers disqualifies him from being an acceptable representative of the City of Miami government in any role, let alone a powerful policymaking office.

Mr. Carollo does not represent the values of the City of Miami, a melting pot city of immigrants with different ethnicities, nationalities, and people from all walks of life.

Mr. Carollo himself is an immigrant to America and surely remembers a time when racist animosity was commonplace against people from his birthplace of Cuba for their nationality, heritage, and language.

Mr. Carollo has enough experience to know better how to handle himself in public office, having previously served as Mayor of Miami, but demonstrates an utter lack of concern in his current role as one of the top 6 elected officials in this City.

Mr. Carollo has not offered a formal apology but rather blamed the target of his racial slurs for taking offense. His long history of demagoguery and racism is well documented.

Therefore, Mr. Carollo must resign immediately.
