Arrests while blocking the pipeline

Anna Lee, Bobbi Jean & the Oceti Sakowin Youth
Fort Yates, ND, United States

Aug 12, 2016 — Yesterday we arrived back in Standing Rock just as construction was set to begin on the pipeline, and rushed over to join our brothers and sisters on the front lines. Those of us who are under 18 went to the Sacred Stone Camp, and some of the older runners decided to join others in using our bodies to block the project.

We stood in front of armed security guards peacefully chanting “We run! For our people! For one nation! We run! For water! For Life!”. By the end of the day, at least 12 people had been arrested.

You can watch some of the action in Shailene’s live footage here: http://bit.ly/2aMERTC. We’ll be out on the front lines again today, keep an eye on her Facebook page to follow along live.

If you are in the area and can donate supplies or better yet join us, please contact SacredStoneCamp@gmail.com for more details.

Please keep us in your prayers as we use our bodies to protect our water. We’ll send more updates soon!
