The Removal of NAACP Providence Branch President Jim Vincent

The Issue

The NAACP Providence Branch President, Jim Vincent, must step down or be removed from his position. Reasons why we are demanding for this to occur goes as follows:

Last month, the NAACP Executive Board discovered that Jim Vincent had been deceiving the Providence branch. He had knowingly been serving as president without having his membership dues payed. Therefore, he was knowingly operating as president and wasn't a member of the branch. The NAACP New England Area Conference president stated: Jim must pay his membership dues and be reinstated by the branch. Until then, he's no longer president. President Vincent would eventually pay his membership due and reinstate himself as president. This behavior is a clear violation of the NAACP by-laws.

It was discovered during that same general body meeting that there was some inconsistencies regarding the branch's finances. When one of the executive board members demanded an audit, President Vincent denied the request.

FOR OVER THREE YEARS, the youth council, Pilar McCloud (Chairwoman of the NAACP Youth & College Division for the branch), and multiple executive board members have been fighting Jim Vincent due to his unethical behavior. We've had multiple meetings regarding his unethical behavior, lack of transparency and complete disregard for our by-laws. He's promised multiple times to improve his behavior. However, he continues to go back on his word and continues to violate our laws and disregard ethics.

We made efforts to vote Mr. Vincent out. Yet, this was unsuccessful because he rigged the election by misinforming us on the membership status of the candidate we placed to challenge him. We've tried to impeach him; however, this has failed as well.

This is our final option. WE ARE DONE! He must leave immediately. Pilar McCloud is currently on a hunger strike that's nearly a day in. She will deprive herself of food until he steps down. Please sign this petition, as a collective community, and support our effort to have him removed. This is an organization of the people that serves the people and we want you're opinions heard!

Thank you.
