So today I have contacted the Home Office, nothing special, just a query around the ESN (Emergency Services Network) including EE masts that will be replacing Airwave (what emergency services use for their communications whilst out and about)

The information I am looking for is

What will the EE Mast power resilience be

When equipment loses power, it will change the dynamic of the way it operates. So we cannot make an assumption that consumer devices will operate on the EE network in a power cut, as the ESN network will have priority over consumers.

The PSTN switch off and the ESN change happening at the same time are concerning, but if they were considered together, they have the potential to create a new resilient infrastructure and solutions that is comparable to the PSTN infrastructure in place today, improving both consumer experience and improving the emergency services infrastructure, whilst increasing the funding into the infrastructure from the consumer market and our tax contributions.

In short, handled properly, these have the potential to see our infrastructure boom whilst reducing the overheads required to run our emergency services.
