Protect families from smoke drift in their own home

Protect families from smoke drift in their own home
The Issue
There is currently no law to protect families in their own home from cigarette smoke drift from a neighbouring property, regardless of the intensity of this problem, whether the properties are owned or rented, or the health risk to the non-smokers. Workers and work premises are fully protected. Non-smokers' require a right to a smoke free environment at home.
We suffer smoke drift through the wall from a neighbouring property. For the past 7 months, both parties have been trying to minimise this problem but failing. Both properties are rented from the same landlord, who has made no attempt to help. My eldest son has had a chronic cough during this period. My youngest son has cystic fibrosis, which is likely to be worsened by any exposure to cigarette smoke.
Legislation to protect non-smokers in their home would bring domestic law in line with non-smoking laws for public places and workplaces.
