It's been less than 3 days since we launched our Justgiving page to help support Ruby and her young family through the difficult months while she is still recovering. So far, people have donated an amazing £2106 - with donations ranging from £2 to £50. Every little bit really does make a difference - thank you so much! Please keep sharing and donating if you are able - we have a ways to go to reach our target... Ruby has written: "The initiative and generosity of my friends wanting to support me and my family and the Register for Ruby campaign continues to amaze and humble me. From the bottom of my heart, I thank anyone considering donating blood, registering with their local bone marrow register or donating to our Just Giving Fund. I'm speechless that these appeals have been created on our behalf and thankful for the concern we continue to receive xxx" It was also wonderful yesterday to read this from DKMS UK (www.dkms.org.uk): "What a way to start the week! We’re super excited to announce that both Jasmi and Delroy have found their matching blood stem cell donors. Jasmi recently celebrated her birthday and we can’t think of a better gift than a second chance of life. Delroy’s journey has continued to highlight the importance of having a more diverse stem cell registry to ensure everyone gets the best possible chance of overcoming blood cancer, whatever their ethnicity. We wish both Jasmi and Delroy the best of luck with their stem cell transplants and recovery. A massive thank you goes out to everyone who has registered as potential blood stem cell donors throughout both Jasmi and Delroy’s appeals. Together we can save more lives! Find out more about Jasmi and Delroy’s stories at www.dkms.org.uk/patients." Everyday we hear about more people and families waiting to for that lifesaving call - which is why this petition exists; to call upon government to ensure we are looking at every opportunity to save these lives. The lack of opportunities to donate cord blood seems like such a wasted opportunity!
