No Confidence in the Tory government & its housing policy that caused Grenfell Tower fire
0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!
On 14 June 2017, as a result of many years of Tory government policy which have successfully reduced the standard of social housing, a terrible fire engulfed the Grenfell Tower block in North Kensington, London. At the time of writing, it is believed that over 100 people have been killed. An "inquiry" is not enough! The position is as follows.
* We will NO LONGER STAND for what this government has done to social housing.
* We will NOT TOLERATE working class lives being treated as expendable.
* We do NOT ACCEPT the government's disgraceful response to the fire: its suppression of information to cover its own crooked behind, and its commitment to protecting its profiteering commercial paymasters in property development and management.
* We ESPECIALLY CONDEMN the failure of the authorities to ensure that all survivors are given DECENT ACCOMMODATION IMMEDIATELY, for example by REQUISITIONING some of the many properties that are owned by multi-millionaires and left empty.
Enough is enough. This government does not deserve to run this country.
We call on Jeremy Corbyn, Leader of the Opposition, to TABLE A MOTION OF NO CONFIDENCE IN THE GOVERNMENT on the day of the official state opening of Parliament, 21 June 2017. The wording of this motion shall be as follows:
"That this House has no confidence in Her Majesty's Government, by reason of its many years of housing policy which led to the Grenfell Tower fire"
