It is imperative that there be cameras in special needs classrooms.  Particularly in non verbal classrooms or classrooms where there are low functioning students.  I have a nineteen year old daughter who is verbal.  She would not tell me if something negative happened to her at school. A teacher or aide could tell her to keep it a secret and she would.  There is no way to guarantee a special needs child is safe in school. How will a parent know if their child is being mistreated if they cannot verbalize it?  Cameras will keep the teachers and aides from abusing these children. The many wonderful teachers that we have teaching special needs children should not be uncomfortable about this. It protects them from possible false allegations and it protects the children from abusive teachers.  Let’s get this implemented as soon as possible!
