I am a Police Officer and a Firefighter/Paramedic and I recently finished a term as a Board of Education member where I made school safety my priority.  I see first hand the plight of the school districts in trying to find a solution to school safety as well as agencies trying to cope with protecting these large venues.

I'm from a relatively poor school district where funding for upkeep of the buildings is at times a challenge.  I am a graduate of this school district as was the majority of my family.  In fact I still have relatives attending.

I propose a 1% tax on all firearms and ammunition sales to be earmarked for school safety/security. 

  Please don't make it a grant process.  Federal Assistance to Firefighter Grants have made equipment skyrocket over the years making it nearly impossible for agencies who do not get the grant to afford most things. (not every agency gets the grant)
