Station a Paramedic in Southbury, CT

Station a Paramedic in Southbury, CT

The Issue

The Town of Southbury will be voting to approve a Paramedic Intercept contract at their next Meeting March 2, 2017.  The Town EMS Committee has recommended remaining with Campion Ambulance Service to provide a Paramedic as needed, and this Paramedic will respond from Waterbury.  Southbury will continue to be serviced by three volunteer Ambulance services who provide EMTs.  Only the Paramedic, however, can provide an advanced level of care to serious / critical patients by having hundreds more hours of training, carrying medicines that EMTs cannot,  carrying advanced cardiac equipment, and they are able to administer IVs.

Another bid for the contract was submitted by Western CT Health Network, which will provide a Paramedic stationed in Southbury 24/7.  This would allow for a faster response time of the Paramedic for serious calls as the Paramedic will not have to travel from Waterbury.  For serious / critical calls, seconds matter and the 19,000+ residents of Southbury deserve to have Advanced Life Support in closer proximity to them.  Please sign this Petition to support having a Paramedic stationed in their Town.
