Puyallup Water Warriors, Protectors of the Salish Sea, 350 Seattle, & the Mosquito Fleet paddled out on South Lake Union Thursday evening. Canoes and kayaks were illuminated with glowing earth globes and flying salmon wind socks. Paul Chiyokten Wagner, Saanich First Nations, played Native American flute music over the water. People came out of the their homes to watch from the shore.
The peaceful paddle gathered around the houseboat of Mary Kipp, CEO of Puget Sound Energy (PSE), owner of the fracked gas LNG refinery in Tacoma. The Puyallup Tribe and many allied Tribes and organizations have been fighting the unpermitted construction of PSE's refinery for over five years.
