Today, you asked Washington residents to voluntarily refrain from using fireworks during this year's 4th of July celebration. In the face of this state's record breaking heat and drought conditions, and in the face of the unimaginable property loss and trauma that continues to this moment in Wenatchee, Washington, your request is a recklessly inadequate measure.  If ever there was a time to act, it is now.  As governor, your charge is to protect the state of Washington, and to that end, you must initiate an immediate statewide emergency ban on the use and sale of fireworks during this unprecedented fire season.  Half measures are just that. The citizens of this great state need the full measure of your leadership during this emergency.  The vast majority of voters in this state would surely welcome your decisiveness and leadership during this crisis.
